Dr. Jennifer Vencill is an assistant professor, licensed psychologist, and AASECT certified sex therapist. She is dually appointed in Mayo Clinic’s Department of Psychiatry and Psychology, as well as General Internal Medicine, where she spends the bulk of her time providing integrated sexual health care in the Menopause and Women’s Sexual Health Clinic. She has taught courses focused on human sexuality to medical students, residents, and physicians at both the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. Dr. Vencill recently received a Rising Scholar Award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and has research interests focused on sexual health, health disparities and minority stress in marginalized sexual and gender communities, and mixed orientation relationships. She sits on the editorial board of Current Sexual Health Reports and is past president of the Society for the Psychology of Women’s Section on Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns. Dr. Vencill received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University and completed her postdoctoral training as the first Michael E. Metz fellow in Sexual Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Program in Human Sexuality, where she went on to serve as coordinator of their Relationship & Sex Therapy Program before joining the Mayo Clinic.
